Classical Destruction

This collage piece is centered around a classical music piece titled Symphony No. 5 in D minor written by Dmitri Shostakovich. 

This music piece was written a critical time in Shostakovich's career, since for the first time (and not the last) he had to go up against Joseph Stalin’s harsh criticism of his music. I wanted to capture the angst behind this classical piece in this collage by tearing pieces of paper and arranging them in a chaotic and rather disorganized way.
